School Meals

The school is proud of its modern and well-equipped kitchen, which provides a range of daily hot meals for the children.

The school menu offers a wide variety of dishes. Each day has a meat, vegetarian or lighter choice, with fresh fruit and vegetables on offer. This menu has been devised with help from the children, parents and staff.

Please be aware that food is delivered fresh to our school each day/week and our school menu is always subject to change. Different food items are available depending on the season. Upon returning to school after Yom Tov, a very light lunch, usually a sandwich with accompanying ‘packed lunch’ style items, is provided.

Our school kitchen was last inspected in June 2022 and was awarded a Level 5 (very good) rating. Please click HERE to access the Food Standards Agency website to access more information.

Our menu is based on a 4-week rotation. Please check the week beginning list and then download the relevant menu:

FOOD ALLERGENS

Legislation requires any caterer providing ‘loose food’ (such as school meals and sandwiches prepared and wrapped on site in school kitchens) to declare the presence of allergenic ingredients used in any food and drink served.

If any one of the 14 allergens are used as ingredients then these need to be declared either in writing using the school menu or orally by directing pupils/parents to where and how to obtain information in writing or orally.

What are the allergens?

There are 14 allergens that need to be identified when they are used as ingredients, some like molluscs, milk, lupin, nuts, and sesame, etc. are never used in our kitchen.

The ones that we have identified are:

  • Cereals containing gluten (namely wheat, rye, barley and oats)
  • Celery
  • Eggs
  • Mustard
  • Fish
  • Soya
  • Sulpur dioxide or sulphites

Where can the allergens be found?

Please see the list below which outlines where allergens can be found in our school.

  1. CEREALS – CONTAINING GLUTEN – breadcrumbs, flour, wheat, rye, barley, oats & pasta
  2. CELERY – this is found in some meat products and stock cubes
  3. EGGS – found in cakes, pastries and mayonnaise
  4. MUSTARD – can be found in some meat products and marinades
