Promoting British Values
At Broughton Jewish Primary School we uphold and teach pupils about British Values. The Government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy and in 2014 the DfE reiterated the need to ‘create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of:
- democracy
- rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
At Broughton Jewish we have been learning British Values through various means, including classroom based lessons and projects as well as our weekly assemblies across different Key Stages. There is also a selection of British Values wall displays across our school.

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla
BJPS pupils, staff, governors and family members joined together to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Below are a few photographs of our class based celebrations and learning. Activities were carried out across the whole school; including crown making, royal portraits, tea parties, arts and crafts challenges, mazel tov letters and much more! The children's learning culminated in a wonderful whole school assembly in which KS2 pupils shared interesting facts about this historic ceremony, as well as a royal quiz. The whole school also enjoyed a sing along! Mazel tov to King Charles and Queen Camilla!
Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) and King Charles III
Broughton Jewish was saddened by the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Through a special assembly and class work, we commemorated and celebrated our Monarch's reign of 70 years.
We look forward to celebrating the historic coronation of King Charles III.
The BJPS children would like to share with everyone some lovely examples of their British Values learning. The children made beautiful cards for King Charles III to congratulate him on his coronation and wish the Royal Family well as they celebrate this historic event.
Platinum Jubilee
Following the Platinum Jubilee, Year 4 sent their good wishes and photograph of the coronation robe they had made to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Year 4 were excited to recieve a reply from the Palace.
